Edmundo Monroy
Edmundo Monroy (BA) began his career at the legendary RCA-BMG Music, then was called to start at the MUSART Group - the Music Publishing business, and thus was born: EDIMUSA / VANDER MUSIC GROUP to develop Latin pop talent since the 80s. Throughout his career, Edmundo Monroy has signed important singer-songwriters such as Joan Sebastian, Manzamusic, the publisher of Armando Manzanero, Omar Alfanno, Ana Gabriel, Fato, Rudy Pérez, K.C. Porter, Mauro Malavasi, and Gloria Trevi, among many others. He led Grupo MUSART/EDIMUSA, closing the acquisition of 12 important publishers such as Editora Hermanos Márquez, S.A., incorporating top-level bolero, ballad, and traditional Mexican music repertoire with songs like "Mienteme" and "Las clases del Cha cha cha." He achieved the first overseas editorial acquisition, incorporating the Venezuelan publisher UNIMUSICA, C.A. (Oscar D' León compositions). Later, the purchase of the music publisher DISCOS PEERLESS, PREDISA was concluded, followed by the founding of the first Latin American publishing subsidiary in the USA in Los Angeles, California, VANDER MUSIC, INC. US, becoming one of the most influential in the Latin market in the United States. Then, the acquisition of the independent music publisher BRAMBILA MUSICAL MÉXICO, S.A. de C.V. (Antonio Aguilar, Wello Rivas, Armando Dominguez) was concluded. Later, E. Monroy acquired for Edimusa-Vander the ballad catalog of the author and producer Alejandro Jaen, Alex Music, which contains important hits recorded by José José, Vikki Carr, Lupita D’Alessio, Angélica MarÃa, among many others. One of the most important music catalogs in Colombia, SONOINTER, was acquired after intense negotiations with the Colombian business group RCN NETWORK-sonolux-Ardila Lulle. Later, the publisher RIO MUSICAL of the renowned singer-songwriter JOAN SEBASTIAN was finally acquired for Musart/Edimusa.
With vast experience in the music business, Edmundo Monroy, thinking about the evolution of technologies and trends in the new business model, established his company RED PLANET MUSIC S.C. in 2008, providing executive consultancy services in Intellectual Property, Management in the digital music and Entertainment business, incorporating comprehensive and global management solutions. Specialized in music asset acquisitions.
In 2008, he was hired by Signal Equity partners NY/Codigo Entertainment Miami to conduct due diligence and participate in the acquisition of FANIA RECORDS- WEST SIDE LATINO-KUBANEY. (Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Hector Lavoe, Ruben Blades, Willie Colon). He was appointed President of the Publishing Group.
As of January 2021, Edmundo Monroy was called upon by the Mexican business conglomerate GRUPO FORMULA to operate as CEO of the emblematic music companies: PHAM-EMMI-EMROTH-EDITORA ÓRFEON and the ÓRFEON VIDEOVOX DISC DIVISION, companies that represent the largest musical heritage in Latin America, known as THE MUSICAL CATHEDRAL OF HISPANIC AMERICA.
